Great Places to Go Site-Seeing in Europe

Holidays in Europe are highly popular offering a vast range of different activities and climates in close proximity. At the same time European holidays are also some of the best for sight seeing and are rich with History. Here we’ll have a look at some of the best places in Europe for tourist spots and photo-ops.

London

London is the capital of England and one of the most-visited cities in the world. There’s plenty to see here too and you never have to walk far to find some interesting architecture or statues, whether it’s Big Ben, Westminster Cathedral or Nelson’s Column. Big Ben and Westminster are of course two of the biggest and most well known sites (make sure you see the changing of the guard) but these countless others are what make the experience so fun. Try and see if you can find the lesser-known ‘Little Ben’ for example, try out the London Eye, see the statue memorial for the ‘animals of World War 2’ or visit the completely free Natural History Museum and Science Museum. Thanks to the London Underground it’s also all very easily accessible.

Paris

Another one of the best holidays in Europe for sightseeing and culture. Here you get the Eiffel tower and the Louvre for your helping of history and culture, and Disney Land Paris not far away for something a bit more colourful and child-pleasing (and in many ways a tourist site that demonstrates the same kind of craftsmanship and culture as those in Rome once did). Paris is also well known of course for its cuisine and fine wine and is widely considered to be the most romantic city in the world.

Amsterdam

Amsterdam is well known as a location for stag nights, not least because of some of its more lax attitudes towards certain laws which makes it something of a party capital. However Amsterdam is also a very beautiful, modern and well-kept city with lots of things to see and do.

Rome

Rome is of course one of the best known holidays in Europe for site-seeing with its incredible architecture and history. Perhaps the most impressive display there is the Vatican City – particularly at night when St Peter’s Square looks most beautiful or from the top of St Peter’s Basilica from where you can see all of Rome. Others though include of course the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, the Coliseum, the Roman Forum and the countless other impressive sites and locations. Literally in central Rome you won’t go more than a few metres without seeing something impressive and the little touches are just as awe inspiring as the world famous areas, such as the obelisks from Egypt dotted around the City.

Magaluf

Magaluf in Spain is a good location for hot and sunny holidays in Europe. With a great climate, nice beaches and a happening nightlife it is perfect for the traditional summer holidays as well as ‘lads’ holidays’ and ‘girls holidays’. It also features one of the largest clubs in the world, or for a more sedate evening the fantastic Pirates show is a must-see. Not so much a sight seeing holiday in terms of monuments and buildings, but in terms of large clubs and bars or spectacular shows there is much here to behold.

Venice

Venice is an exciting destination for holidays in Europe due to the water that surrounds it. This means that rather than getting taxis everywhere you can instead enjoy a gentle boat ride between destinations. At the same time it makes for a great view and a peaceful atmosphere. Prices are a little steep around this area however.
